How much is property tax on an Anderson home?
It starts at 1% of assessed value each year, plus voter-approved charges that depend on the exact address. Shasta County's 2025-2026 tax rate sheet lists charges that can appear on Anderson area bills, including Anderson Union High School District bonds at 0.0131% of assessed value and two Shasta-Tehama-Trinity Community College bonds at 0.0014% and 0.0125%.
The property's tax-rate area decides which charges apply, so ask for the home's current tax bill before you write an offer. As an example, a home assessed at $315,000 would carry a base tax of $3,150 a year, or $262.50 a month, and the high school bond rate on that value would add about $41 a year. Will my impound account pay the supplemental tax bill?
Not automatically. Shasta County mails supplemental tax bills to the owner, not the lender, and says it is your responsibility to ask your lender who will pay it. The county cannot excuse penalties because of a misunderstanding with a lender, so set money aside after closing.
When is Shasta County property tax due?
Bills are mailed by November 1. The first installment is due November 1 and becomes delinquent after 5 p.m. on December 10, with a 10% penalty. The second is due February 1 and becomes delinquent after 5 p.m. on April 10, with a 10% penalty plus a $10 cost. Questions about a specific bill go to the Shasta County Tax Collector at (530) 225-5511.
